SUBMISSION FROM RESIDENTS ON PROPOSED CHANGES TO HABERFIELD, ASHFIELD & LEICHHARDT LOCAL NETWORK

We submit the following in response to transport for NSW’s proposed traffic changes to Leichhardt, Lilyfield, Ashfield & Haberfield

We oppose:

. Diversion of arterial & heavy traffic onto ‘no truck’ zones & local streets
.  Parking and street tree removals on Norton and James Streets north, Mortley Ave, Bland St and Timbrell Dr
.  Making James Street (north) one-way
.  The proposed changes to William Street Leichhardt, including the removal of traffic-calming roundabout and parking and the proposal to push traffic onto Hubert and Charles Street
.  Changes in Haberfield & Ashfield which will lock-down Haberfield and disperse further traffic to Bland Street, to Leichhardt north, Summer Hill & Five Dock
.  Removal of traffic lights at Dalhousie St & Waratah St intersections
.  Removal of Right Turns in and out of Dalhousie St at Parramatta Rd
.  Removal of Right Turn from Waratah St into Dobroyd Pde / CWL
.  Removal of surface pedestrian crossings on Dalhousie & Waratah Sts

We seek:

. Retention of direct access to Darley Rd from Lilyfield via the City West Link/James/Norton intersection
.  Retention of right turn from Norton St into City West Link to east
.  Retention of right turn from Norton St (n) into Lilyfield Rd
.  Retention of parking for residents and businesses on Norton and James Sts (north of City West Link), Mortley Ave & Bland St
.  Protection of existing and proposed cycleway routes (including on William St and Lilyfield Rd)
.  Installation of safe pedestrian crossings, including on William St
.  Retention of the right turn from Norton, Waratah Sts & Timbrell Dr into City West Link and Dalhousie St in & out at Paramatta Rd
.  No more heavy traffic past primary schools and childcare centres
.  No adverse impacts upon Ashfield Park
.  Retention of existing 406 bus route
.  Pause on all major changes until after opening of the M4/M5 Link
